Beautiful boy Barney is ready for his next adventure! He is a 7 year old Malamute crossbreed who is described as a big, laid-back softie. He likes to do things at his own pace, especially when it comes to a good sniff on a walk! He enjoys making 4-legged friends, and at the end of a long day he loves nothing more than a good snooze on the sofa! He would love a home that enjoys outdoor adventures before a good cuddle & nap.
Could you be Barney's perfect match?
Barney is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures and give him all of the love and care he deserves. He is a friendly boy who can live with primary school children who are confident with dogs, who can play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when he needs. Barney could live with another dog that can tolerate his initial excitement and will happily co-exist, this will be pending successful meetings at the centre, living with another dog is not a necessity, he would be happy with friendly walking buddies. Barney has some training under his belt, he knows his name and does a lovely sit, but may need a bit of encouragement for training, such as a cheeky hotdog, to feel motivated. He generally walks nicely on the lead but there can be some tension on the lead when he finds a good sniff! Barney settles nicely in the home, he could be left for up to 4-6 hours if kept busy with toys and enrichment or has breaks, this would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle in. Barney will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.
